The following photos show my coil running with my new single air blast spark gap. This style gap out performs my RQ style gap on my system. Breakout occurs with the single gap set at about 1/4 inch with a strong blast of compressed air. Its noisy and bright but the performance gain is amazing.



My 4'' Toroid 9'' pie pan caulked in place with a bead of clear silicone Another 4'' toroid - soft aluminum vent hose construct ion. My origional primary. Forced to retire it at higher power levels due to over coupling. 8'' Toroid made from 4 galvanized elbows and a few pop rivits My power factor correction caps 135 mfd. each in parallel. I no longer trip circuit breakers. Air blast spark gap. Should be easy to maintain. Crispy center section of my .005 mfd 30 KVDC cap. This would explain the sudden explosion. View of my caps. The one in the tub is the salvaged remains of an earlier failure. It used to look like the smaller red one. RQ style spark gap housing. Many carbon tracks formed in PVC around all of the copper pipes. If you are experiencing a gradual decline in performance with your system inspect this area very closely.
