Living the Dream !! - Welcome to 101st Screaming Eagle Racing
The dream of owning and racing a stock car numbered after and dedicated to the 101st Airborne Division - the unit I served with in Vietnam - originated in the summer of 1969 at the Waukon, Iowa fairgrounds. A variety of circumstances prevented that from happening ...until late 2005/early 2006. At my tender age of 58 or so...my wife
thought I was crazy. My youngest son, George and I became regulars at the
local circuit at West Union every Saturday night; George doing the driving and
me acting as pit crew/boss /mechanic and proud Dad.
From the beginning the car number - 101 was in dedication to the 101st Airborne Division and especially to honor all those who have ever wore the Screaming Eagle shoulder patch; now, in the past and in the future. We changed the number to 101st in 2007 to even closer tie us to this ideal. Another change this year is: George is taking time off the racing circuit currently so this year I get to do the driving. This car is NOT about what the car
looks like; its NOT about how good we do in the race or the season; its about
bringing the Screaming Eagles to mind and view each
On an additional personal level; this car is about LIVING THE DREAM...living the dreams of all those men and women that lost their lives wearing the patch - through me. And its about living my dream...life's too short to keep pushing your dreams on the back burner...if you've got a dream, I hope this site inspires you to STOP and take a step in the direction to LIVE YOUR DREAM.
